Matt Martin is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays wing for the New York Islanders. He is married to Sydney Esiason Martin.
Sydney was raised primarily in Cincinnati; however, she was born on Long Island, New York, on August 15, 1992. She also served as the on-air digital host for the National Hockey League (NHL) and the former host of Manhattan, New York’s Sports Illustrated.

The New York Islanders selected Martin 148th overall in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. On September 4, 2009, Martin signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Islanders. On October 29, 2010, Martin scored his first NHL goal against the Montreal Canadiens’ Alex Auld.
Martin and the Islanders reached a four-year contract agreement on September 15, 2012. With 382 checks in the 2014–15 NHL season, Martin set the record for most hits in a single season.
