Sting gained popularity for his tenure as the public face of two significant American professional wrestling organizations: Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), now Impact Wrestling. It succeeded the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW), which was acquired by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 2001.
