Ondrej Palat Professional Career

Ondrej Palát signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Lightning on October 10, 2011. In the 2011–12 season, he started his professional career with the Norfolk Admirals, Tampa Bay’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate. The team would set a professional hockey record by winning 28 games in a row while playing for the Admirals. As AHL champions, Norfolk would go on to win the Calder Cup.

The next year, Ondrej Palát participated in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch, Tampa Bay’s new AHL affiliate. On March 16, 2013, he scored his first NHL goal against Carolina Hurricanes forward Justin Peters during a brief call-up to the NHL. Later, during the 2013 Calder Cup playoffs, Palát would return to Syracuse.

Despite competing for two different hockey teams, Palát and his teammates had the exceptional chance to win back-to-back AHL titles after making it to the Calder Cup Final. The Grand Rapids Gryphons would defeat The Crunch in the Final, though.
