By Nikhat Zareen is an Indian professional boxer who was born on the 14th of June 1996. She is a gold medalist at the 2011 AIBA Women’s Youth & Junior World Boxing Championships which took place in Antalya and won another gold medal at the 2022 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and became the 5th Indian woman to seize a gold medal at the IBA World Boxing Championships. Since 2021, the Indian boxer works as a public banking officer at the Bank of India. Zareen is also a gold medalist which she won at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games
Zareen is often referred to as the second Mary Kom and is considered one of the best female boxers in India.

Hailing from the Nizamabad district of Telangana, she was born on June 14, 1996, to parents Parveen Sultana and Jameel Ahmed. Her father Jameel was a salesman while her mother Parveen is a homemaker. Zareen’s father Jameel worked in Saudi Arabia for fifteen years but later moved to Nizamabad, Telangana for his children’s schooling and career. Zareen is the third daughter among four daughters. The names of her two elder sisters are Anjum Minaj and Afnan Zareen who are both doctors while her younger sister whose name is not known is a badminton player.

Nikhat Zareen grew up in a family of six in Nizamabad. She finished her early schooling at Nirmala Hrudaya Girls High School in Nizamabad. She completed her Bachelor of Arts from AV College in Hyderabad, Telangana.
It was her father who introduced her to the world of boxing and started training under him. Zareen was inducted by the Sports Authority of India in Visakhapatnam to start her boxing training under Dronacharya awardee, IV Rao in the year 2009. After about a year, she was named the ‘golden best boxer’ at the 2010 Erode Nationals.
The 26-year-old boxer has been selected as a banking officer at the Bank of India, zonal post at AC Guard, Hyderabad. She is a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award handed by President Draupadi Murmu on November 30, 2022.
