Born on March 5, 1968, Robert L. “Mickey” Joseph is a retired American football player and coach. In 2022, he was the University of Nebraska’s acting head coach. Joseph served as the head football coach at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, from 2011 to 2012 and as the wide receivers coach and associate head coach at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 2017 to 2021.
Joseph played quarterback for the Nebraska Cornhuskers while he was a University of Nebraska–Lincoln student. During his freshman and sophomore years at Archbishop Shaw High School, the Marrero, Louisiana native and capable backup behind starters Steve Taylor and Gerry Gdowski began his career.
In 1990, during Joseph’s junior year, he took over the squad as the starter in a two-quarterback scheme alongside teammate Mike Grant. Under head coach Tom Osborne’s guidance, he started and led Nebraska to a 9-2 regular season record in his lone season as the team’s starting signal caller.
