Who is Connor Brown?
Born on January 14, 1994, Connor Brown is a professional ice hockey player from Canada who plays right wing for the National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers (NHL). The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Brown 156th overall in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
Before spending the better part of two seasons with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL) and eventually joining the Toronto Maple Leafs full-time in the 2016–17 season, Brown played for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2011 to 2014.
Prior to being traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2019, he continued to play for Toronto for two more seasons. Brown was an alternate captain for the Senators for three seasons. Before the 2022–23 NHL season began, he was dealt to the Washington Capitals.
Connor Brown’s career
On November 22, 2013, Brown and the Maple Leafs reached an agreement on a three-year, entry-level deal. After finishing the regular season with 21 goals and 40 assists, he won the AHL rookie scoring championship in his first season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL), owned by the Maple Leafs.
Brown was a member of the Marlies until getting called up to the Maple Leafs in March of 2016. Brown nearly made the Maple Leafs NHL squad out of training camp for the 2015–16 campaign, but he was assigned to the AHL to continue developing.
However, as part of a coordinated attempt to provide AHL rookies with some late-season experience, he would be elevated to the squad later in the season.
Brown took part in his debut NHL game against the Florida Panthers on March 17, 2016. He scored his first NHL goal on March 24 against Anaheim Ducks future teammate Frederik Andersen.
On April 20, 2021, Brown scored two goals to help the team defeat the Calgary Flames 4-2. Over the course of the season, he scored 21 goals in 56 games.
