Lewan attended Cactus High School in Glendale, Arizona, where he played football and was rated a four-star prospect, earning recognition as the fifth-player player in the state of Arizona and 194th nationally. After graduating from high school, Lewan played college football at Michigan, where he secured the title of All-American honours, solidifying his status as one of the best players.
In 2014, Taylor was drafted in the NFL first round by the Tennessee Titans, and since then, his performance has been remarkable; he has been named to three Pro Bowls (2015–2017) and two First-Team All-Pro selections (2016–2017).
