Eventually, Italy won the World Cup on penalties. Also, Zidane announced his retirement after that incident and never took part in another football game.

2. Rigobert Song – 2 Red Cards

Rigobert Song became the youngest player to get the red car in FIFA 1994 in a match against South American giant Brazil. Not only in FIFA 1994, Rigobert Song has been sent off due to a red card in FIFA 1998 during a match against Chile. 

He again made the record of becoming the first player to get a red card in two successive FIFA World Cups. 

3. Pepe – 1 Red Card

In the inaugural match against Germany in FIFA World Cup 2014, Pepe had a clash with Thomash Muller, the German midfielder. Referee immediately sent off Pepe for headbutting the German player Thomas Mueller. It wasn’t shocking at all as it was Pepe’s 12th red card in total in his entire career, but the difference is that it was his first while representing his country.

Even after the dismissal of David Beckham from the ground, England was defeated 4-3 in penalties in the contest.

In a match against Portugal in FIFA 2006, Wayne Rooney was caught stepping on Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho’s foot. Referee immediately sent Rooney out of the match by a red card. The thing which made this situation worse was Cristiano Ronaldo’s blink on camera after Rooney’s dismissal.
