harry brook

Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has said he is “flabbergasted” that Harry Brook has not been included in England’s squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Brook, 23, has been in excellent form for Yorkshire this season, scoring 758 runs in the County Championship at an average of 50.46. He has also impressed in white-ball cricket, scoring 337 runs in 10 ODIs at an average of 37.44.

Pietersen believes that Brook is a “special talent” and that his absence from the World Cup squad is a “huge miss” for England.

“His absence is a huge miss for England. I think they’re going to regret it.”

England’s selectors have opted to go with a more experienced squad for the World Cup, with the likes of Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, and Jason Roy all included. However, Pietersen believes that Brook should have been given a chance to prove himself at the highest level.

The ODI World Cup will be held in India from October to November this year. England are one of the favorites to win the tournament, but their chances of success may have been weakened by Brook’s absence.
