Many young hockey players have been emerging and surely some of these players look quite promising and have a bright future ahead of them. So who are these young players that have been wreaking the NHL with their performances and taking everyone by surprise? In this post, we have compiled the 7 youngest NHL players to look out for and you’d better be prepared! 

1. Juraj Slafkovsky

Born: 30 March 2004 (age 18)

Place of birth: Košice, Slovakia

Height: 6 ft 3 in (191 cm)

Weight: 238 lb (108 kg; 17 st 0 lb)

Position: Left wing

NHL team: Montreal Canadien, 

On the No. 1 spot, we have both Juraj Slafkovsky and Owen Beck who are tied for the youngest NHL players. Slafkovský is a Slovak professional ice hockey left winger who plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens. The 18-year-old was picked first overall by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft,  becoming the highest-drafted Slovak player in NHL history.

2. Owen Beck

Born: February 3, 2004 (age 19)

Place of birth: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada

Height: 5 ft 11 in (180 cm)

Weight: 191 lb (87 kg; 13 st 9 lb)

Position: Centre

NHL team: Montreal Canadiens

Owen Beck and Juraj Slafkovsky are both tied for the youngest NHL players. Beck is also another Canadian hockey player who plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Montreal Canadiens. He was picked 33rd overall in the 2nd round by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Beck along with his Canada team won the gold medal at the 2023 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. However, he wasn’t about to receive much playing time during the game. But now that he has joined the NHL, we expect great things from this young emerging player.

3. Wyatt Johnston

Born: May 14, 2003 (age 19)

Place of birth: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Height: 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)

Weight: 185 lb (84 kg; 13 st 3 lb)

Position: Centre

NHL team: Dallas Stars

At age 19, Wyatt Johnston is the third youngest NHL player and he’ll probably be an amazing player in the coming days as he gains more experience. The Canadian pro ice hockey player currently plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Dallas Stars. He was picked in the 1st round and the 23rd overall choice by the Stars in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

4. Brandt Clarke

Born: February 9, 2003 (age 19)

Place of birth: Nepean, Ontario, Canada

Height: 6 ft 2 in (188 cm)

Weight: 195 lb (88 kg; 13 st 13 lb)

Position: Defence

NHL Team: Los Angeles Kings

Brandt Clarke is a 19-year-old Canadian ice hockey defenceman who plays in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Barrie Colts. In the coming days, Clarke will play in the National Hockey League (NHL) for Los Angeles Kings as he has been picked 8th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Kings.

5. Dylan Guenther

Born: April 10, 2003 (age 19)

Place of birth: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Height: 6 ft 2 in (188 cm)

Weight: 175 lb (79 kg; 12 st 7 lb)

Position: Right Wing

NHL team: Arizona Coyotes

Dyan Guenther is a Canadian pro ice hockey winger who currently plays in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the Seattle Thunderbirds. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old hockey player will make his way in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Arizona Coyotes as he had been picked 9th overall by the Coyotes in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

6. Cole Sillinger

Born: May 16, 2003 (age 19)

Place of birth: Columbus, Ohio, U.S.

Height: 6 ft 0 in (183 cm)

Weight: 201 lb (91 kg; 14 st 5 lb)

Position: Center

NHL team: Columbus Blue Jackets

Cole Sillinger is a Canadian pro ice hockey player who is part of the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 19-year-old hockey center was picked 12th overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

7. Shane Wright

Born: January 5, 2004 (age 19)

Place of birth: Burlington, Ontario, Canada

Height: 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)

Weight: 187 lb (85 kg; 13 st 5 lb)

Position: Centre

NHL team: Seattle Kraken

The Canadian pro ice hockey player, Shane Wright plays center in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Windsor Spitfires as a potential player in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Seattle Kraken. Selected as a probable 1st overall choice throughout the 2021–22 NHL season, the 19-year-old player was picked 4th overall in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Kraken.
