Maliek Collins, a defensive tackle, has recently secured a contract extension in the ongoing offseason. The Houston Texans, along with Collins’ agents Drew Rosenhaus and Ryan Matha, finalized a two-year agreement worth $23 million through recent negotiations. This development follows similar contract extensions obtained by other defensive tackles such as Dexter Lawrence, Daron Payne, Jeffery Simmons, and Ed Oliver.

Collins was originally drafted in the third round by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, where he spent four seasons before joining the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020. In 2021, he signed with the Houston Texans, and over the course of 30 games, he has accumulated 66 tackles, six sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and five fumble recoveries while playing for the team.

It is worth noting that Collins might not be the only defensive tackle to secure a new contract this offseason. Chris Jones is currently holding out of the Chiefs minicamp with the goal of obtaining a new contract, while Quinnen Williams is also seeking a similar outcome with the New York Jets.
