Prior to the 2023–24 season at Manchester United, Lisandro Martinez had been progressively regaining fitness after undergoing surgery in April to treat a broken metatarsal.
After undergoing surgery, Lisandro Martinez claims he is fully recovered and prepared for preseason with Manchester United.
Martinez fractured his metatarsal during United’s Europa League quarterfinal match against Sevilla in April, necessitating surgery. He was not present for the season’s conclusion, which included Manchester City’s victory over United in the FA Cup final.
The 25-year-old claimed that his surgery had gone “really well” in April, and it appears that his rehabilitation has gone according to schedule. He has uploaded videos to Instagram showing him sprinting on a football pitch with and without a ball while wearing a United training uniform.
He added the tweet “So happy to be back 100%” to his account. The most recent developments happened after he first went back to the gym to try to rebuild the strength he had lost during the layoff.
Prior to their first preseason match against Leeds in Oslo on July 12, United will return to the Carrington training fields in the near future. Early in July, Erik ten Hag will greet the players who haven’t just returned from international service.
Martinez and Donny van de Beek, who has been sidelined since January with a knee ailment, may both participate in the first training sessions. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial may also join them because Martial is recovering from a torn hamstring and Varane has retired from international football.
Another first-team player, Antony, is currently rehabilitating from an ankle injury that prevented him from competing in the FA Cup final. The Brazilian winger might go to Norway but was not present during the most recent international break.
