Born on March 25, 1990, Meghann Moira Lanning is an Australian cricketer who serves as the captain of the Australia national women’s team. She is a successful cricketer and is considered one of the best Australian Women’s cricketers of all time.
Early Life, Family, and Education
Born in Singapore to parents Wayne Lanning and Sue Lanning. Her father Wayne works as a banker while details about her mother Sue are not known. She also has a sister named Anna Lanning. At a very young age, Meg’s family briefly afterward shifted to Thornleigh, Sydney, where she completed her early schooling at Warrawee Public School. Meh started playing organized cricket when she was just ten years old, following a recommendation from her educator to test for a regional squad. She later went on to be a part of New South Wales at the primary school level along with many other future Australian squad mates, also including Ellyse Perry. Growing up, Meg’s inspiration came from her idols Ricky Ponting and Paul Kelly.
Ahead of Meg’s 1st year at high school, her family relocated again and this time shifting to Kew, Melbourne, where she completed her schooling at Carey Baptist Grammar School at the age of 14, she created headlines by becoming the first female to participate in the First XI cricket for an Associated Public Schools squad.
She later went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Health Science at the Australian Catholic University where she completed her graduation in 2019.
