By Robin Koch, a defender for Leeds United, is reportedly planning a short-term transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt of the Bundesliga, according to Sky Sports writer Florian Plettenberg. The 26-year-old joined Leeds from SC Freiburg in August 2020 and has been a member of the team for the last three years. Koch’s contract is slated to expire after the 2018 season even though he has been a consistent member of the first team under numerous managers.
To prevent losing Koch to a free transfer next year, Leeds may try to sell Koch during the current transfer window. According to The Athletic, the Championship team is ready to part ways with Koch and his £40,000 weekly salary in exchange for a loan agreement and a fee for a one-year loan period. Brenden Aaronson and Marc Roca, two further Leeds players, have also been mentioned in connection with possible transfers away from the team.
Koch has not assisted or scored goals while playing for Leeds, although Josh Bunting, a journalist, has commended him for his leadership and defensive skills. He made 4.1 clearances, 3.1 aerial victories, and 1.5 tackles per game in the Premier League last year on average. Despite his efforts, Leeds was relegated despite their efforts.
Koch has played in a variety of positions during his career, including midfield and across the backline, making him a versatile player. This adaptability would have been useful given the Championship’s tight schedule. Leeds, though, will have to function without him the next year.
