The former Napoli defender Kim Min-jae has been photographed at Bayern Munich’s training facility, suggesting he would soon join the team. Alongside Amir Rrahmani, Kim was a key member of Napoli’s defence last season, helping the team win its first Serie A championship in more than three decades.
Kim had only recently been acquired by Napoli from Fenerbahce for €18 million (£15 million), but Bayern Munich activated his release clause and paid the asking fee to get him. All personal conditions have reportedly been settled, and Kim’s transfer to Bayern is likely to be officially announced, according to reputable writer Fabrizio Romano. The 26-year-old South Korean will cost Napoli a significant price of €50 million (£43 million).
Kim had his medical exams while on his preseason holiday in South Korea, and he might be set to make his Bayern Munich debut when they play Manchester City in their opening preseason game on Wednesday.
Despite the loss of their star defender, Napoli is still confident in keeping hold of its other key players because few teams are willing to pay the hefty asking prices set by owner Aurelio de Laurentiis for Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Meanwhile, Premier League teams have expressed interest in midfielder Leon Goretzka since Bayern Munich recently stated their readiness to release seven first-team players. According to rumours, Joshua Kimmich may also be on the verge of leaving Bayern, but at a high cost, as the board is open to bids for the midfielder.
West Ham United, who are looking for a player to replace Declan Rice, has been connected to Goretzka in recent transfer rumours. Additionally, Sadio Mane and Benjamin Pavard have allegedly been added to Bayern Munich’s transfer list, suggesting a possible summer makeover at the Allianz Arena.
