The Indian men’s football team received congratulations from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur for winning a record-extending ninth SAFF championship. At Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium, the Blue Tigers defeated Kuwait in a dramatic championship match, winning 5-4 after a sudden-death penalty shootout. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, the custodian, emerged as the winner after making a key stop to seal the victory.

 

PM Modi praised the team’s accomplishments on Twitter, referring to them as champions once more and praising their amazing voyage. He emphasised the athletes’ persistence and will, saying that their accomplishments would motivate athletes in the future.

Anurag Thakur, the sports minister, also sent the winning Indian squad his best wishes. He commended the Blue Tigers for their bravery and acknowledged their brilliant performance in the thrilling championship game. India was ecstatic with their triumph, Thakur emphasised, and he urged them to keep shining.

Home Minister Amit Shah added his praise for the group, thanking them for their persistent will and saying that their success would influence future generations. He sent the Blue Tigers his congratulations on their record-breaking eighth SAFF championship victory.

Kalyan Chaubey, the head of the AIFF, expressed his delight in the team’s outstanding accomplishment. He lauded the club as a whole for their incredible development in Indian football and hailed the players, notably Sunil Chhetri and head coach Igor Stimac. Chaubey emphasised the team’s fearlessness and sense of identity as the Blue Tigers while recognising the great growth of Indian football.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, added his voice to the chorus of congratulatory remarks and praised the Indian football team for once again instilling national pride. He claimed that their triumph gave India’s football culture a big boost.

Igor Stimac, the team’s head coach, became the first foreign coach to win back-to-back SAFF Championship championships as a result of the victory. Additionally, India’s victory over Lebanon in the semifinal on penalties was the first occasion that they had defeated another West Asian nation in a row.
