The National Hockey League (NHL) has produced some of the quickest skaters over the years and while there are plenty of fast and talented players in the league or have been part of the league we’ll take at the current fastest NHL players. So here are the top 7 fastest NHL players to look out for.

1. Jordan Kyrou (13.550 seconds)

Born: May 5, 1998 (age 24)

Height: 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)

Weight: 196 lb (89 kg; 14 st 0 lb)

Position: Right wing

NHL squad: St. Louis Blues

Jordan Kyrou is a Canadian pro ice hockey player who currently plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a right wing for the St. Louis Blues. He was picked overall 35th by the Blues in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.

The 24-year-old right-winger is currently the fastest NHL player. In 2022, he was chosen to participate in the All-Star Game and contested in the Fastest Skater title, in which he emerged as the winner recording a speed of 13.550 seconds.

2. Adrian Kempe (13.585 seconds)

Born: September 13, 1996 (age 26)

Height: 6 ft 2 in (188 cm)

Weight: 195 lb (88 kg; 13 st 13 lb)

Position: Forward

NHL squad: Los Angeles Kings

Adrian Kempe is a Swedish pro ice hockey player who plays in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a forward for the Los Angeles Kings. He was chosen by the Kings in the 1st round 29th overall of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The 26-year-old forward is currently the second-fastest player in the NHL recording a speed of 13.585 seconds.

3. Chris Kreider (13.664 seconds)

Born: April 30, 1991 (age 31)

Height: 6 ft 3 in (191 cm)

Weight: 226 lb (103 kg; 16 st 2 lb)

Position: Left wing

NHL squad: New York Rangers

Chris Kreider is an American pro ice hockey left winger and also serves as an alternate captain for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Being drafted in 2009 as the 19th overall, Kreider is the oldest tenured player in the Rangers. 

Often referred to as “The Human Eclipse”, the Rangers left winger possesses the league’s record for the highest Stanley Cup playoff points before his initial NHL regular season match, with five. He is also the third fastest NHL player as of now.

4. Connor McDavid (13.690 seconds)

Born: January 13, 1997 (age 26)

Height: 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)

Weight: 193 lb (88 kg; 13 st 11 lb)

Position: Centre

NHL squad: Edmonton Oilers

Connor McDavid is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who also serves as the captain of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected 1st overall by the Oilers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 2022, McDavid participated in the All-Star Game and contested the Fastest Skater title, in which he finished fourth. He won the contest for the Fastest Skater title in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Cale Makar is a Canadian pro ice jockey who plays as a defenceman in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Colorado Avalanche. He was picked 4th overall by the Avalanche in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. In 2022, he finished fifth in the Fastest Skater event.  

6. Kyle Connor (13.851 seconds) 

Born: December 9, 1996 (age 26)

Height: 6 ft 1 in (185 cm)

Weight: 177 lb (80 kg; 12 st 9 lb)

Position: Left wing

NHL squad: Winnipeg Jets

Kyle Connor is an American pro ice hockey player who plays as a left winger in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets left winger was picked 17th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Jets. As of February 2023, he is the sixth fastest NHL player.

7. Dylan Larkin (14.116 seconds)

Born: July 30, 1996 (age 26)

Weight: 190 lb (86 kg; 13 st 8 lb)

Position: Center

NHL squad: Detroit Red Wings

Dylan Larkin is an American pro ice hockey player who also served as the captain of the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was picked 15th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. As of February 2023, Larkin is the seventh fastest player recording a speed of 14.116 seconds.
