Some of the most talented individuals in football are regarded to be strikers for their goal-scoring effectiveness, not just on the field but off the field as well.

A handful of the most outstanding players in every squad are mainly the ones netting the balls in. However, scoring a goal is not as easy as you think but sometimes when things work according to your ways, a player can score a goal in just a few seconds in the game, and sometimes even the whole 90 minutes is barely enough. Well, when it comes to individuals scoring the fastest goals, there are quite a few of them to select from.

So in this post, we will mention the 8 fastest goals in football history based on recent research. 

  1. Nicklas Bendtner- 1.8 Seconds (Arsenal vs. Tottenham Hotspur) 

The former Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner netted in the fastest substitute score in the Premier League in just 1.8 seconds during a match against Tottenham Hotspur. Several football players can brag of netting their first Premier League score to achieve such a record and Bendtner did exactly what many players would do. In their match against Tottenham Hotspur, the Danish striker scoring a goal in an unbelievably short amount of time was one of the most beautiful and surprising moments ever in the history of football. 

  1. Gavin Stokes- 2.1 Seconds (Maryhill Juniors vs. Clydebank)

Gavin Stokes who was playing for Marryhill Juniors at that time scored a goal in just 2.1 seconds in a match against Clydebank in 2017. Sadly, the young star passed away in a crash on October 8, 2022.

The tribute stated: ‘’He was a great footballer in his youth and is remembered for scoring one of the World’s fastest ever recorded goals in 2.1 seconds.”

  1. Vuk Bakic- 2.2 Seconds (GSP Polet vs. FK Dorćol)

Serbian footballer Vuk Bakic scored a goal in 2.2 seconds during a match against FK Dorćol in 2012. Bakic blasted a long-ranger straight from kick-off to score his team a 1-0 goal against Dorcol. Eventually, the opponents protested against the score but because it went in straight from the kick-off, the goal was counted. Polet won the match 4-1 but it was Bakic who took the spotlight. 

  1. Nawaf Al-Abed- 2.4 Seconds (Al-Hilal vs. Al-Shoalah) 

Nawaf Al-Abed scored a goal in just 2.4 seconds. He is currently ranked fourth for one of the fastest goals to score. The Saudi Arabian winger striked the ball from the midfield in a match against Al-Shoalah after he spotted the goalkeeper out of his lines.

Abruptly, the ball flew its way into the net with Al Hilal winning the match in a 4-0. Currently, the Al-Abed 2.4 seconds goal is ranked third for instantaneous goals in football history.

  1. Marc Burrows- 2.5 Seconds (Cowes Sports vs. Eastleigh) 

Marc Burrows, who was at that time a part of Cowes Sport, netted an incredible goal in a matchup with Eastleigh in a mere 2.5 seconds. After being positioned by one of his squadmates, he noticed the goalkeeper walk out of his line and Burrows grabbed the once in a lifetime opportunity and kicked the ball that very instant.

The ball flew into the net straightaway because of the breeze impact. Unfortunately, Burrows was diagnosed with cancer and departed forever from this world on February 9, 2009 (aged 30). As of now, his goal is listed as the second fastest goal scored in the history of football scoring speed.

  1. Cheung Sai Ho- 2.8 Seconds (Hong Kong vs. East Timor)

In 1993, Cheung Sai Ho who was playing for the Hong Young at that time netted the then-quickest-ever goal during the Portsmouth Cup when he was just 18 years of age.

The footballer played his final match for Hong Kong in 2007 during the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification where he assisted his team to win against East Timor 2–3 away and 8–1 at home to progress to the next round. He publicly declared his retirement in July 2008.

On 22 April 2011, the talented midfielder took his own life at the age of 35 by jumping from the window of his 36th floor flat after a scuffle from his wife. 

  1. Ricardo Olivera- 2.8 Seconds (Rio Negro vs. Soriano)

Ricardo Olivera currently ranked seventh for holding a record for netting a goal in just 2.8 seconds in a game between Rio Negro vs Soriano in 1998. This score was taken on from the halfway point and flew instantly into the net, taking the goalkeeper by surprise.

  1. Carlos Almeida- 3.2 Seconds (2011 Oliveira do Hospital vs. Associação Atlética de Arganil)

Carlos Almeida playing for Oliveira do Hospital at that time netted the ball in just 3.2 seconds in a match against Arganil during the 1st level of Coimbra Football Association (CFA), the 4th level of Portuguese football. Ultimately, Oliveira won the game 3-0.
