After his relationship with then-Lions head coach Matt Patricia soured, Slay was dealt to the Eagles in March 2020. There were many concerns regarding Slay’s reaction to the Eagles’ choice to employ Patricia as a senior defensive assistant this offseason since Slay said he had lost all respect for Patricia following several disputes between the two men.
Slay stated that since Patricia’s arrival, things between the two men have been “cordial,” and he implied he expects things to remain that way because both men want the same thing. Slay made the remarks while making an appearance at a charity golf event alongside Calvin Johnson on Monday.
Slay reportedly remarked that it’s another day at the office, as reported by Jenna Malinowski of the Detroit Free Press. The major focus is on competing and winning a title since they both have the same goal.
The contact between Slay and Patricia in his current position will be considerably different than the interactions they had when playing for the Lions. That ought to make it simpler to prevent the kinds of altercations that contributed to Slay’s initial relocation to Philadelphia.
