By In preparation for the upcoming season, Aston Villa reportedly wants to strengthen its midfield. They have been keeping a close eye on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for a while, and they are about to finalize a Bosman transfer for the 29-year-old.
Oxlade-Chamberlain progressed through Southampton’s levels before becoming a household name while playing for Arsenal. His achievements drew interest from the Merseyside Club, which hired him in the summer of 2017.
The 29-year-old had a significant part in Liverpool’s first team after joining them. He wasn’t a regular starter throughout, but he contributed significantly to their long-term success.
Jurgen Klopp thought he needed to cut ways with some of his veteran players and bring in fresh blood since Liverpool’s midfield was having trouble. As a consequence, the team chose not to extend Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract, which was set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
Meanwhile at Aston Villa, Unai Emery has achieved great things. He changed their circumstances and led them to Europe. The Spanish coach is now concentrating on bolstering his team for the next season. He wants to strengthen his midfield and thinks adding Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has experience, would be beneficial.
