Three of the four men in a boat that overturned during a fishing excursion that began in Tampa in February 2009 perished by drowning. Only one man made it.
A movie on the incident is currently being shot. indicated by Tampa’s Fox 13.
The narrative of Nick Schuyler, the lone survivor and a former USF football player, is presented in the film Not Without Hope. Along with former USF football player William Bleakley, deceased athletes were Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper and Lions defensive end Corey Smith.
The engine was fired in an attempt to free the jammed anchor, but the boat overturned as a result.
“Nick has been committed to a singular goal and that is to make everyone know that the last thing about these guys was not how they died, what you need to know is all the heroic things they did to keep one another alive and that’s why he agreed to make this movie,” producer Rick French said.
On the island of Malta, the movie is being shot within large water tanks. The movie Captain Phillips was shot in the same place.
Schuyler is portrayed by Zachary Levi, who played Kurt Warner in American Underdog. A Coast Guard commander played by Josh Duhamel is a co-star.
The anticipated release date for Not Without Hope is late 2024.
